    Job Description

    MedData has an excellent career opportunity available as a Bilingual ER Staff Advocate based in our office located in Anaheim, CA. This is a full time position, Monday-Friday 8:30am-5pm. 

     

    POSITION OVERVIEW

    The purpose of this position is to connect uninsured hospital patients to programs that will cover their medical expenses. Working as the liaison between the patient in need the hospital facility and government agencies. The ER Staff Advocate works within the scope of authority established by MedData while supporting and adhering to our code of ethics, business standards, mission, and core values.

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES                     

    • Interview applicants, obtain demographics and inquire about current circumstances, such as last date of employment, employer information, household composition, income and property
    • Explain the program benefits and values of applying for county, state and/or federal programs
    • Initiate the application process for benefits by assisting applicants with the completion of all the necessary paperwork and working aggressively to obtain all the pending verifications
    • Must be well versed with the technical components of the application process and assure that the applicants understand each form they are signing
    • Must be able to efficiently manage time, perform clerical tasks such as typing and filing, and preferred knowledge of government regulations
    • Work with county eligibility workers and county offices to create a positive working relationship
    • Work with Intake Advocates at assigned hospitals to ensure timeliness of tasks and provide proactive support with follow up communications and tasks
    • Work effectively with TCN (Call Center)
    • Must be able to multi-task easily and efficiently
    • Must have minimum of 100 efforts per day
    • Meet resolution at 60 days from referred date
    • Must spend a minimum of 80% of time on case management
    • Must have the ability to work independently and with a team                 

     

    QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS  

    • High School Diploma or GED
    • Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
    • Thorough understanding and proven track record working with state and federal programs
    • Demonstrates and involves others in learning about ongoing needs for change. 
    • Excellent time management and prioritization skills
    • Accustomed to working in a rapidly changing environment
    • Demonstrated ability to hear, assess and prioritize client requests and concerns and diligence with follow through
    • Work independently, as well as with a team.
    • Demonstrated ability to multi-task numerous system, employee and client urgencies
    • Excellent communication skills both written and oral
    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
    • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in writting
    • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software; Internet software; Database software; and E-mail
    • Knowledge of government programs and be well versed with the technical components of the application process
    • Ability to research technical information and government regulations
    • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, make sound decisions, and possess strong problem solving skills
    • Self-driven, results-oriented with a positive outlook, and a clear focus on high quality and business profit

    • High comfort level working in a time sensitive, diverse and fast pace environment
    • Experience in MS Office Applications and Internet Usage
